Some of this information is not in the form of any type of content we can publish but I feel I should share with you these snippets, blog bits, and url links that are about to fall off my desktop.

Smart Grid Technology Why big buildings may be the salvation of energy storage - Urban Electric Power (UEP) is a Harlem NY-based clean energy spin-out company of the CUNY Energy Institute. We are commercializing the advanced zinc anode rechargeable battery technology

‘Re-inventing the grid with your iPhone’ - The paper pictures, in broad lines, how the Alternating Current (AC) low voltage grid is a heritage from another era, and how the concept of Direct Current (DC) microgrids can contribute to the necessary transformation of the system.

Control Trends’ interview with Darrell Smith, Director of Facilities & Energy at Microsoft was one of the highlights of IBCON 2013. Darrell’s compelling presentation featured mega-sized results in a mega-sized application that now collects 500,000,000 data transactions every 24 hours from 125 buildings that occupy 15 million square feet and house 57,000 people. All the data is in the cloud and secure.

Bill Lydon, Editor I attended the inaugural Haystack Connect 2013 event held April 29th - May 2nd, 2013 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The event was modeled after concepts of open source software where people come together to solve problems and implement new ideas in a public, collaborative manner. Nearly 200 technology suppliers, systems integrators and end users gathered to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and discuss new ideas about smart building technologies, energy management, operational efficiency, sustainable buildings andcontemporary advanced smart-device applications.

The value of analytics is to inform operators of issues that are wasting money. The goal is to move to “data-driven facility management” where better data helps people make better decisions. When it comes down to the core challenge it’s really about behavioral change – helping people see the need, and benefit, of making changes to how things are currently done to drive improved performance – for both energy and operational savings

Transactive energy is a software-defined, low-voltage distribution grid that enables market participation by distributed energy resources (DER) bidding generation of negawatts or kilowatts

Workplace safety audits, pre-start checks and inspections are faster and easier with the iAuditor app from SafetyCulture.

New free Video training Course "DDC Controls The Basics" now available at http://controltrends.org."This course is perfect for someone that is new to building automation controls or is looking for a review."
