Digital transformation is changing and reshaping our business world. Just as the industrial revolution revolutionized entire sectors of the economy, so is digital transformation. It is changing the landscape in which buildings operate today and will continue to do so.
Digital transformation can be defined as the acceleration of business
and operational activities, processes, competencies and models to fully
leverage the changes and opportunities of digital technologies and
their impact in a strategic and prioritized way. Furthermore, digital
transformation aggregates OT and IT practices into a common platform of
people, processes, best practices, and services specifically designed
to deliver critical business and operational needs and priorities in a
cost-effective and timely manner.
While past technological revolutions were driven by hardware and
software applications, digital transformation for us is driven by edge
devices that are smarter; more powerful, the Cloud, analytics and data
enlightenment.
Digital transformation is contributing to a significant shift in the way we connect and access information, make decisions, manage and operate buildings. It is enabling us to expand our reach to a range of equipment and devices in a variety of new applications and redistribute and process data at the edge, in the Fog, in a lake and in a Cloud.
Digital transformation is empowering us to take advantage of data-----
data coming from everywhere and from any device. With data, we are
further extending the delivery of lowering operating costs, driving
better performance (both operationally and financially),driving the
conservation of energy and creating better occupant experiences. By
blending traditional building operational assets, services, and
interactions and unlocking new digital technologies, business models,
and relationships, digital transformation is redefining market
structures and stakeholder relationships. This rapidly unfolding
landscape requires new strategies and approaches to both current and
emerging realities.
[an error occurred while processing this directive] As businesses transform their business and operational models through digital transformation, they need to rely on flexible, cost effective, secured building and facility solutions and services that specifically deliver the tangible business benefits they desperately need and expect.
Equally, today’s businesses must remain flexible and responsive to
shifting priorities. While not all strategic pathways to navigate this
digital transformation will be appropriate for all businesses across
all markets, those that acknowledge the power of digital transformation
will have an advantage. Digital transformation is reshaping our
industry. It is driving additional benefits and ROI around operational
efficiency and performance, cost savings, increased interface with
building stakeholders, sustainability, improved occupant experiences,
tenant retention and increased asset value.
