The two companies have signed a letter of intent and will finalize the transaction by March 1.

CSI provides integrated information, control solutions and energy solutions for commercial, industrial and institutional buildings on all seven continents.

"VisualControl provides solutions that simplify and automate the conversion of engineering concepts into the LONWORKS® technology environment," he said. "We're excited to know that CSI will deliver this software to their worldwide distribution network."

CSI will combine the application programming and network management tools comprising VisualControl with its own applications expertise and its LONWORKS-based NetPoint™ products, according to Dean Meyer, vice president and general manager of the CSI Global Product Division.

"VisualControl is a perfect fit for CSI's product vision, which emphasizes LON and LNS technology, while maintaining continuity from our I/NET® system developed over the past 22 years," Meyer said. CSI Wins Security Contract for Railway in Hong Kong

CSI Pacific (Hong Kong) Ltd., a subsidiary of CSI Control Systems International Inc., has signed an agreement with Alcatel CGA Transport for the design, installation, testing and commissioning of an electronic access control system for the Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation.

CSI provides integrated information, control solutions and energy solutions for commercial, industrial and institutional buildings on all seven continents.

"As was the case with the Mass Transit Railway Corporation security/access project awarded in 1998, CSI combined a focused team effort with its superior professional approach to tendering and came out the winner again," said Peter Rogers, managing director of CSI Pacific in Hong Kong.

In July 1998, the company opened a Hong Kong office after securing the contract to integrate its I/NET software with "smart" card technology for the MTRC, a transportation system that serves more than three million passengers a day. Other transport projects in the Asia-Pacific area with CSI systems include the 51-station No. 5 subway line in Seoul, Korea, and new Metro systems in Guangzhou and Shanghai, China.

The Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation project involves two phases, with Phase 1 valued at more than $5.5 million USD, for which CSI will install electronic access control in nine new stations and a depot for the Westrail Operating Line, with completion expected by September 2003. Phase 2 consists of 11 stations for the existing Eastrail Operating Line. Work on this phase is scheduled to begin in December this year with completion target date of September 2004.

CSI Pacific (Hong Kong) Limited is fast becoming the company of choice in Hong Kong because it has a reputation for finishing contracts on time and keeping promises to its customers, Rogers said. "We have been impressed by CSI's "can do" approach and competence in keeping the project on schedule," said Martin Brown, head of operations at the MTRC.
