“OPC communications technology continues to gain traction in process control
applications worldwide, used as a tool to, for example, acquire, analyze and
report real-time asset status and current conditions from multiple data sources
and control systems,” said Craig Resnick, Research Director at ARC Advisory
Group. “Solutions such as ICONICS' OPC ToolWorX, are designed to simplify the
process of implementing OPC communications technology, providing a server
toolkit to collect and measure this process data, which can be used by
manufacturers for providing key performance indicators such as OEE (Overall
Equipment Effectiveness), while leveraging the latest versions of both Microsoft
Visual Studio and Windows CE.”
In addition to the newly added support for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and
2005, OPC ToolWorX V3.50 will still support Microsoft Visual Studio 6 and .NET
2003. An important note for those developing Windows CE-based OPC Servers:
Microsoft Embedded Visual C++ is no longer supported for the creation of Windows
