In these harsh economic times, when taking care of
business is a challenge, change is in the air and promise of new technologies
and opportunities seem abound, many questions need answering: What will the
future of my business look like? Are we in another technology hype cycle? Who is
leading this charge for change, paving the way to the future energy economy? And
most importantly, how can I secure my company's business position?
At Clasma, we make a practice of looking to the future; it is this that enables
us to organize thought provoking and opportunity-creating events at the
intersection of IT and energy. It seems appropriate for us to distil these
thoughts in the lead up to our next major event in Santa Clara June 8-11.
"How can I secure my company's position?"
While the answer is different for each of us, knowing what we all face is
critical, and so is taking bold steps to stake our claim. The real challenge is
that the landscape is complex, and that is why ConnectivityWeek is structured
the way it is, as the only event that gathers all of the areas that will affect
and be affected by the future of IT and energy.
We strongly believe that only with this comprehensive view can companies map
their future and secure their competitive advantage. It is only when the
disparate disciplines—linked through information and energy—are connected can we
benefit from Metcalf's law (the value of the network is the square of the number
of nodes).

Energy is the new currency in this equation, with the problems of climate change
and energy supply being the drivers for the criticality of this value.
