The 2009 Frost & Sullivan European Green Excellence HVAC Controls Technology Innovation Award is presented to Tridium for its excellence in technology innovation and meticulous attention to reducing environmental impact through its host of controls solutions for easy integration with other building management systems.

Tridium’s patented NiagaraAX framework technology facilitates real-time management and control of diverse systems and devices using a standard common web platform. A unique feature of the technology is that anyone can develop their own applications using the platform and make them available to the market as their own product.

“NiagaraAX is a blessing for the automation industry since integration is the single differentiating factor amidst a highly price driven market that has an abundance of players clamouring to prove their value,” states Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Priya Cheriyan. “Technologies such as the NiagaraAX Framework can greatly reduce costs while still delivering superior quality and integration without compromising on cost and energy efficiency.”

Tridium’s value proposition to their automation and control solutions (ACS) clients is that the Niagara Framework is a single framework and complete integration platform that encompasses a comprehensive range of ACS in all genres of buildings. Hence, the adoption rates of the Niagara Framework worldwide have surpassed 141,000 instances in 44 countries.

“Companies who choose to develop their solutions using the framework benefit from lower development costs, experience faster time to market and provide solutions that deliver reduced energy costs, and hence better environmental performance,” comments Priya Cheriyan. “These advantages have provided Tridium its successful route to the market with strong strategic partnerships with ACS leaders such as TAC, Honeywell, Siemens, WebEasy, JCI and Schneider Electric among others.“

Tridium’s NiagaraAX Framework has added value especially in the heating, ventilation & air-conditioning (HVAC) applications through its Vykon Brand. VYKON’s Java Application Control of the Engine (JACE) is a family of embedded controllers that provide connectivity to all systems within a building. A JACE enables easy integration into the controls automation network and supports the NiagaraAX technology.

“VYKON products are future proof solutions that can cater to a building’s automation and control requirements throughout its lifespan,” adds Priya Cheriyan “Thus, VYKON products provide a benchmark for a building’s efficiency and controlled energy consumption. This standardised approach has been found extremely effective as a proven technology for energy optimisation within buildings. “

Tridium has further developed its latest framework solution - the Sedona Framework. It is the industry’s first, open source development framework that provides a complete software platform for developing, deploying, integrating, and managing pervasive device applications at the lowest level. The Sedona Framework distributes programmable control and manageability to any device and brings intelligence and connectivity to the network edge and back. It allows every controller, sensor and device that sits on the edge to become part the IP network.

Frost & Sullivan therefore recognises Tridium’s efforts at promoting sustainability and enabling futuristic designs using the next generation software with least environmental interference.
