BTi Energy Management announced that they will be spearheading the commercial and industrial energy management metering and reporting business in North America in a new partnership with Wescon Technology.

The core of the BTi Energy Management offering is a leading edge multi-circuit electric meter with a built in web-server and more standard communication options then you will see anywhere else. The system scales easily from self contained systems on a closed network to nationwide deployments that allow head offices to compare detailed energy usage at all their facilities. Add automated reports sent out via email and the ability to consolidate data from multiple meters scattered all over the country connected by the Internet and you have a very powerful energy management solution.

“We are very optimistic with the positive feedback we are receiving from customers. Smart energy management strategies are rapidly replacing sub-billing as the most valuable submetering technology. Studies consistently show that daily usage information down to the minute and knowing exactly where your money is going is proving to be more than twice as effective at reducing costs compared to just metering to split the bill fairly between tenants and departments. That's a lot like getting a credit card bill with no line items on it. It's pretty hard to control your spending if the only information you have to work with is the grand total.” – Daryl Cowie, President BTi Energy Management

Commercial buildings in the United States are responsible for 18% of the country's total energy consumption, and as such they represent one of the largest opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and reduction in carbon emissions. According to a new report from Pike Research the increasing application of information technology (IT) to the commercial building sector, together with changes in perception regarding energy as an asset, will drive a cumulative investment of $67.6 billion in Energy Management Systems (EMS) during the period from 2010 to 2020. By 2020, the cleantech market intelligence firm forecasts that annual EMS revenues in the U.S. will reach $6.8 billion.

This will result in better energy management data in a detailed and real time format thus making it easier for facilities to engage in proactive vs reactive response programs and help them cut costs. BTi Energy Management is now positioned to make its distributors and integration partners a big part of that picture.” - Adam Caballero, Sales VP BTi Energy Management

Sean Feeney, Entrepreneur in the Bay area says "the ACU [Multi-Circuit Web Meter] is right on the cutting edge when it comes to flexibility, real time response, and customer support. This company is always evaluating the latest web based tools & technologies to make it easier for us to maximize our efficiency."

The management team at BTi Energy Management has over 50 years experience providing mission critical energy management and control systems to utilities and is now bringing that expertise to their commercial / industrial customers. Wescon in turn has been in the metering and controls business for over 16 years with over 150 staff, offices in Santa Clara, CA and manufacturing facilities in Shanghai.

Look for this latest strategic partnership to make some waves in the energy management world.
