SAN DIEGO, CA. (April 21, 2016) – Douglas Lighting Controls, a member of the Panasonic Group, will introduce its DLC Bluetooth® Fixture Controller & Sensor at Lightfair International 2016, April 26–28 in San Diego, California.

The DLC Bluetooth® Fixture Controller & Sensor provides individual and group control of parking garage light fixtures (LED or other) using onboard sensors and Bluetooth wireless technology. The device features a fixture-mounted 360° occupancy and daylight sensor and a relay for true ON/OFF, 0–10V dimming control. For locations that require some level of lighting at all times, bi-level lighting can be activated to enable low level light when the parking area is unoccupied and full level light when occupied.

“We’re constantly working to stay ahead of the ever-evolving technological advancements in our industry,” said Rob Mahaffey, Director of Product Market Development for Douglas Lighting Controls.  “This new Bluetooth controller and sensor syncs directly with mobile devices for a user-friendly commissioning experience. The clever design uses an extended chase nipple and spacer to eliminate sensor shading from the fixture while incorporating a tool-free method to reduce the length of the neck and chase nipple when applicable.”

Using a free smartphone app, deck level commissioning is done using Bluetooth wireless communication. Upon installation, the app allows the installer to create a zone of fixtures. Bluetooth technology is then used to create a wireless mesh network for communication across controllers (fixtures), enabling zone lighting activation. When one fixture in a zone is activated, all other fixtures within the zone will be activated using the Bluetooth mesh network.

“We all know lighting controls reduce energy consumption,” said Brad Stevenson, VP Sales for Douglas Lighting Controls. “What makes this solution of interest to the market is that it easily connects to a new fixture or can be used to quickly upgrade existing parking garage lights while using Bluetooth wireless technology for commissioning and zone control.”

The DLC Bluetooth Fixture Controller & Sensor is designed to integrate with most vapor tight fixtures and is engineered to operate in harsh outdoor environments where weatherproofing is required. It is powered from the fixture (120/277/347Vac) and mounts directly to the end of the vapor tight unit through a standard knock-out. The new device provides a solution for meeting ASHRAE 90.1 and Title 24 energy code requirements.
