RICHMOND, VA and HAYWARD, CA,  —Tridium, Inc. and Dust Networks announced an alliance targeted at dramatically lowering the cost of energy monitoring and real-time demand response applications. Dust Networks’ SmartMesh wireless sensor solutions now interface directly with devices and applications based on Tridium’s NiagaraAX Framework.

“As a result of our alliance with Dust Networks, end users can rapidly implement more widespread programs to reduce energy costs,” said John Petze, President and CEO of Tridium. “Deploying Dust Networks’ SmartMesh wireless sensor devices to collect and transport vital energy related information to Tridium’s systems and applications is much easier, less intrusive and more cost-effective than running wires and conduit all over a building. With this alliance, all of the partners and end users in the Niagara Community now have new options for connecting devices to implement advanced energy management applications.”

The Alliance announcement comes at a time when energy costs are rising, and building owners and facilities managers are increasingly pressured to manage energy costs more effectively. Dust Networks’ SmartMesh wireless mesh networking system is a platform for easy installation of very reliable wireless communications devices that dramatically reduce the cost of deploying sensors for energy management systems. Coupled with the flexible and extensible Niagara platform, the rich information set provided by the SmartMesh wireless sensor networks can be used to monitor and manage energy consumption, to implement demand reduction policies using real-time energy pricing information, and to reduce overall energy costs. With more sensing points, ultra-reliable wireless network performance, and low-cost installation, the cost-effectiveness of energy management systems has never been more attractive.

“Dust Networks is pleased to be working with Tridium, the leading provider of energy management software solutions,” said Joy Weiss, President & CEO of Dust Networks. ”This alliance ensures that SmartMesh device networks and Niagara systems are compatible ‘out of the box’ for the benefit of the ultimate customer, the building owner or facilities manager intent upon reducing energy costs.”
