Sontay’s Sensors Score in New Stadium

The construction of the new Śląsk Wrocław Stadium for the UEFA EURO 2012 football tournament in Poland required a sophisticated Building Management System (BMS) featuring a vast number of Sontay sensing and measuring devices installed by Delta Controls.

Completed in 2012, the 42,771 capacity stadium in Wroclaw which hosted all of Poland’s matches in the Group stages of the tournament, including the prestigious match against the Czech Republic. Krakow-based Delta Controls selected around 500 of Sontay’s sensors to provide the eyes and ears for the enteliSYSTEM building management system used to monitor and control HVAC services in the four level stadium. These included temperature sensors, liquid pressure sensors, air differential pressure sensors, relative humidity and temperature sensors and temperature thermostats, ensuring that the building services operate at optimum efficiency and performance.

Delta Controls has installed around 28,000 control points in the BMS system and the Security Management System (SMS) to control an extensive range of building services. These included 25 air handling units, four heating plants, 310 fan coil zones, smoke dampers, ventilators, over 1000 fire dampers as well as domestic hot water services, LPG monitoring in parking areas, lighting, power and electrical systems.

[an error occurred while processing this directive]The company selected a number of Sontay TT temperature sensors for a wide range of different applications at the stadium. These include sensors which measure air temperature in the air-conditioning ductwork running through the stadium and immersion sensors detailing the water temperature at various points in the building’s pipework system. Meanwhile, Sontay’s ST-TY wall-mounted space thermostats are used to control and adjust temperature locally throughout the stadium.
