MobileRobots Inc Schedules First Robot Installer and Service Professional Certification Class!

Amherst, NH, December 22, 2008– MobileRobots Inc announced today what may be the first ever certification for mobile-robot installers and service professionals (CMISP). CMISP is just one of the new job categories arising as the mobile robotics industry starts to take off.

Says Steve O’Leary, Director of Sales and Business Development for MobileRobots Inc, ”Because of the state of the economy and global competition, thousands of service robots are beginning to be deployed to make American goods and services more efficient and affordable. This is not an option; it’s not evil corporations seeking to take advantage of people, it’s just a fact. Smart job-seekers will be re-focusing their skills toward new technologies such as mobile robotics. To install and service mobile robots, technicians need mechanical, electronics and computer skills, similar to many auto employees. It’s a prime opportunity for re-training some of
today’s displaced workers, and a commitment that MobileRobots Inc is making to help create jobs in a difficult economy.”

When autonomous robots are installed in a building, they must learn or be taught their workspace to create a model of their environment that they later use to navigate and complete tasks. The CMISP program is designed to train technicians how to perform a site view of the workspace; best practices for mapping workspaces; how to set up robot routes and tasks; as well as procedures for service and maintenance of mobile robots.

They may also choose to be listed at MobileRobots’ website directory of available installers by location. .Some trainees already work for companies integrating robotic couriers, medical/lab robots, security robots, robot guides and light-duty factory AGVs. MobileRobots expects that others will be independent professionals whom robot firms can call on when they have customers in the CMISP’s area.

CMISP’s will need advanced training before they qualify to install robot fleets in factories or
outdoor security rovers on facility grounds.

CMISP certification training will be held January 20 in Amherst, NH at MobileRobots Inc headquarters. The company plans to hold additional workshops for CMISP and other robot professionals in Boston, Detroit, Chicago, Houston, San Diego, Washington, DC and Orlando.
