KNX entry now made much easier

Brussels - Building automation with KNX has a great future – it is a business opportunity not only for professionals such as system integrators but also for newcomers. The newly developed eLearning tool “ETS eCampus” from KNX can help set you on the path to success. The tool is available free of charge via the KNX Online Shop (https://onlineshop.knx.org).

During the development of the new Engineering Tool Software ETS4, emphasis was placed on simplifying access to bus technology in addition to making other improvements. ETS4 was therefore given an appealing design and a clearer menu structure. New functions ensure that KNX systems can be configured even quicker and easier. KNX has now made it simpler to get started in the emerging market of building automation: with a new, web-based training tool, the KNX ETS eCampus, KNX newcomers can quickly gain an initial overview of the basic principles, functions and control concepts of the system and learn the most important steps with ETS4. Those with little experience can thus further their knowledge about KNX.

All you need to do is download the software from the KNX Online Shop (https://onlineshop.knx.org). With just a few mouse clicks, you get to the start page of the KNX ETS eCampus. The theory, essential functions and the most important steps are communicated in several lessons. Text, voice prompts, graphics with simulation and interactive ETS4 sequences help to do this. There are different ways to test your knowledge so that you can practice what you have learnt and continually test yourself. This keeps you motivated and it only takes a few hours to complete. With the knowledge that they have acquired, students can set up sample projects with KNX. Those that achieve at least a certain minimum number of points after completing the self-test can even print out an eLearning certificate and thus obtain an ETS4 Lite version free of charge.

The eCampus is also the best preparation for visiting one of over 200 KNX training facilities in more than 35 countries. KNX ETS eLearning is based on an object-oriented, learning management system which has been tried and tested all over the world. The two-level learning concept, consisting of the transfer of knowledge about ETS4 and practical online simulation exercises, was developed in consultation with certified KNX training facilities. It is therefore guided by practices which to date have proved to be successful. It will be available in “English” and “German” from November 2011 with other languages also available at a later date (www.knx.org).
