Most people in the HVAC/R industry are aware of the pending shortage of skilled HVAC professionals due to the upcoming retirements of the Baby boomer era. An estimated 40% of our workforce is eligible to retire in the next ten years.

In 2004, Johnson Controls began to study how this trend would affect its service business. As a result, Johnson Controls determined that a program for post secondary education institutions that provided highly regarded HVAC programs to local markets was a necessity, and developed CareerConnect.

Johnson Controls to Present to Educators at HVAC Excellence Conference
CareerConnect is Johnson Controls partnership program with selected technical colleges, universities and colleges throughout North America aimed at assisting in the development and recruitment of the next generation of skilled HVAC service professionals. Through this program, Johnson Controls collaborates with select colleges to choose the most meaningful program deliverables and develop a custom program aimed at enhancing student curriculum, assisting in faculty development, increasing community awareness and building a pipeline of technical recruits.

Johnson Controls will be presenting at the HVAC Excellence Educators and Trainers Conference March 26th and 27th 2007 in Las Vegas NV. The presentation will introduce attendees to the CareerConnect partnership model, address how the United Association, Johnson Controls and HVAC Excellence are working together to develop recruiting strategies, highlight program successes and discuss the strategic direction of the program in 2007.

Persons interested in learning more about how to align their program with Johnson Controls should call immediately. The HVAC Excellence Educators and Trainers Conference was sold out within 90 days of its announcement. However, with the aide of the Circus Circus Casino and Resort, the conference is being expanded to handle an additional 50 instructors.
