Lumisys announced the release of the first BACnet native Telephone Override Module (BTOM) for use with a Building Automation System (BAS). Lumisys has successfully merged its robust communication platform to provide building occupants convenient access to override lighting or HVAC. The prominence of cell phones has made telephone override more popular than web based override systems. "Although web or PC based override receives a lot of attention, we have witnessed a substantial increase in the usage of telephone override in commercial buildings. Today, building occupants are on the go and almost everyone has a cell phone" said Gary Ditzler, Lumisys product manager.
The BTOM is designed to be a native device on BACnet networks and it digitally communicates each caller’s request for override of lighting and HVAC to the Building Automation System (BAS). The BAS can then act upon these requests. The integration of the BTOM with the BAS is essential to leveraging sophisticated applications such as tenant billing, cost allocation, etc.
The BTOM replaces the LTOM and incorporates substantial product improvements including dipswitch selectable protocols (BACnet, N2 Open, Lumisys Open and TRIATEK Legacy), full-duplex phone voice and control, and up to 1,024 zones.
