Company Further Commits to Developing Technology and Solutions to Support Commercial Demand Response and OpenADR Standards
Lee’s Summit, MO February 6, 2013-Connexx
Energy, Inc., a subsidiary of Lynxspring, Inc. and leading developer of
open technologies for building automation and energy management
solutions has joined the OpenADR Alliance.
Today’s announcement comes on top of Connexx Energy’s recent
announcement on the availability of its new OpenADR 2.0 a-certified
Virtual End Node (VEN) driver for the Niagara AX® platform. This driver
permits rapid deployment of standards-based AutoDemand Response
solutions for Niagara based commercial deployments.
Formed in 2010, The OpenADR Alliance
fosters the development, adoption, technical activities and compliance
of the Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) standards through
collaboration, education, training, testing and certification. OpenADR
is an open global standard enabling electricity providers and system
operators to automatically communicate Demand Response signals with
each other and their customers using a common language over any
existing IP-based communications network. OpenADR standardizes pricing,
and electricity grid reliability.
Demand Response continues to play a significant role in helping to
balance and manage the Smart Grid and reducing energy demand and
costs. It is an important program for utilities as it assists
them in making sure enough electricity is available on the grid to meet
demand in order to avoid power outages by balancing the supply and
demand for electricity by reducing the consumption at peak times or by
shifting usage to non-peak periods when demand is lower.
“A critical element in automated demand response is technology; by
developing demand response solutions based on OpenADR standards, we are
enabling utilities along with commercial and industrial facilities to
have a direct link that delivers fast and reliable load reductions, as
well as cost savings without having to put in a lot of time and manual
intervention”, commented Anno Scholten, President, Connexx Energy.

“OpenADR based technology automates the notification and communication
process enabling the building management systems at facilities to
automatically respond to event and price signals from the utility in an
efficient, reliable, and cost-effective method for controlling peak
demand and balancing the grid”, said Marc Petock, Vice President,
Marketing, Connexx Energy.
