Zinwave to showcase UNItivity, a unified connectivity platform for in-building wireless and IP communications at Mobile World Congress

UNItivity’s fiber-based architecture support all wireless, public safety and IP data services on a one-layer infrastructure

Zinwave Ltd, global suppliers of wideband distributed antenna systems (DAS) for in-building wireless coverage, will showcase UNItivity, its next generation unified connectivity platform at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona 2-5 March.

Based on advanced photonics and wideband amplifier technology, Zinwave’s new unified connectivity solution enables high density venues to run multiple wireless, public safety and IP data services on a single converged infrastructure, resulting in large CAPEX and OPEX savings and delivering the lowest TCO. UNItivity integrates Zinwave’s unique wideband distributed antenna system (DAS) technology with IP capabilities to delivery an end-to-end solution for in-building wireless and IP communications. As well as supporting any mix of wireless services between 150MHz – 2700MHz, regardless of protocol or modulation scheme on a one-layer network, it also provides integrated support for a range of IP services. These include IP cameras, VoIP, RFID, femtocells, Wi-Fi and location based services, being increasingly deployed in large stadia and shopping malls to improve business services for onsite concessionaires.

UNItivity is modular, flexible and scalable, so users can add new services to existing installations without needing any hardware replacements or cabling refits. Its core DAS components comprise a compact, lightweight hub and an enhanced remote unit with integrated PSU, increased MTBF and an extended operating temperature range. Its supplementary components include an active Point of Interface (POI), simplifying connectivity to base stations, an integrated media unit, and comprehensive site controller software.

UNItivity’s active POI, UNIconnect, simplifies and improves connection reliability to base stations by removing the need for a custom built multi-component interface for each implementation. Its site controller software (UNIcommand), improves system management processes by providing a single aggregation point for monitoring, configuring and alarming all Zinwave hardware deployed within a building or campus. Its integrated media unit, UNImedia, facilitates the interconnection of IP driven applications alongside Zinwave’s DAS technology to deliver a fully integrated Power over Ethernet (PoE) compliant solution that is cost effective, reliable and fast to deploy.
