Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) announced the industry's first ZigBee 2006-compliant platform. TI achieved compliance for its Z-Stack, the leading ZigBee solution on the market today, which is certified for the CC2420 transceiver and the CC2430 System-on-Chip (SoC).

The Z-Stack received Golden Unit status, which is awarded to the first platforms to implement the latest version of the ZigBee standard and to pass independent testing by one of two ZigBee qualified testing labs. Golden Units are then established as reference points for future ZigBee Compliant Platform (ZCP) testing.

"We have been working with the Z-Stack and TI's low power wireless team for many years. We selected Z-Stack as Golden Unit for ZigBee 2006 because it was one of the first platforms to achieve compliance and is the leading ZigBee stack solution," said John Lin of TUV Rheinland Group, a world leader in compliance testing and certification.

"With the release of the compliant Z-Stack 2006 platform, ZigBee is ready for rapid market adoption," says Kobus Marneweck, general manager of TI's low-power wireless group in San Diego. "Customers have been waiting for a compliant platform, so the market can expect to see many new ZigBee-certified products based on TI's ZigBee platform in the near future."

Development Tools and Availability
The CC2420ZDK Pro and CC2430ZDK Pro kits deliver all the elements required for ZigBee development, including hardware to evaluate, demonstrate, prototype and develop software targeting various ZigBee applications. The kits also include the following software: Z-stack, TIMAC, an evaluation version of IAR Embedded Workbench and application examples. The Z-Stack 2006 is available for download by registered ZigBee kit customers at www.ti.com/zigbee

The Z-Stack 2006 is part of TI's wide-ranging support infrastructure for analog engineers, which includes training and seminars, design tools and utilities, technical documentation, evaluation modules, an online KnowledgeBase, a product information hotline and a comprehensive offering of samples that ship within 24 hours of request.
