SAN FRANCISCO, CA., Jan. 28, 2010 – Adura Technologies™, which creates turn-key wireless lighting and HVAC management systems for commercial facilities, today announced it has become one of the first companies to win an Autodesk Clean Tech Software Grant.

The Autodesk program provides free design and engineering software to early-stage clean technology companies in North America that are working to solve some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.

“We are delighted to have been chosen for this award,” said Jack Bolick, Adura president. “The Autodesk suite of software tools will streamline and extend Adura’s offerings for clients. We look forward to working with Autodesk to determine how our applications can work together to further automate our processes, from sales to installation.”

“We are proud to partner with Adura Technologies, which is one of the leaders in the field of lighting and other energy management systems for existing buildings,” said Lynelle Cameron, director of Sustainability, Autodesk. “Design is critical to the successful creation and implementation of every solution and Autodesk’s products will help enhance and expedite all of Adura’s offerings.”

Lighting accounts for about 38 percent of electrical costs in U.S. commercial buildings, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Commercial Building Energy Consumption Survey. However, only about 7 percent of existing buildings have central controls and improving lighting controls with wired systems is costly and disruptive.

Adura Technologies’ solution is the Adura LightPoint System™ Release 1.0 (ALPS 1.0). Because it consists of a Web-based software and devices that link existing lighting fixtures wirelessly, it is cost-effective and easy to install and use. The system scales from a single room to a floor, building or campus. It can automatically respond to utility-based programs, such as demand response, which can further reduce costs.

Adura also recently announced an agreement with Cypress Envirosystems, a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp (NYSE:CY), that enables it to offer the company’s Wireless Pneumatic Thermostat (WPT) for controlling building HVAC operations. Lighting and HVAC account for about 60 percent of a building’s total energy usage. The combination of ALPS and WPT could reduce these costs 30 to 50 percent.

The Autodesk Clean Tech Software Grant consists of up to five licenses each of six software applications: AutoCAD® Inventor® Professional, Autodesk® Showcase® Professional, Autodesk® Vault Manufacturing, Autodesk® Navisworks® Manage, Autodesk® Revit® Architecture and Autodesk® Alias® Design. Adura partnered with KETIV Technologies on an implementation plan and training to ensure its success in using the software tools.
