Embracing the Internet of Things: LonMark International to offer free education sessions at AHR Expo in Chicago
 
WHO: LONMARK® International is a non-profit corporation focused on the testing and   certification of products, people and companies supporting the ISO/IEC 14908 body of standards. The organization continues to support the rapidly growing Internet of Things (IoT) market and focus on its next generation initiative- LONMARK 2.0.

9:00 a.m.
Smart Cities Asset Monitoring and Control Using an Open Platform: This session will focus on the Interoperable Internet of Things and how it is enabling smart cities to monitor and control city assets.  Buildings, outdoor lighting, city sensor grids, and many more devices are connected using open interoperable control technology.  Attendees will gain valuable insight into the latest market trends and solutions in this rapidly growing marketplace followed by an open discussion session.

Open Standards for the Oil/Gas Industry: Integrating Building Automation and Process Control: New profiles and standards have been developed to support requirements for interoperability in the oil and gas industry. New guide standards focus on requirements for a process industry's need to manage building control systems as part of an enterprise-wide centralized system.

Profiles Powering Big Data, and Uncovering Dark Data in the Industrial Internet of Things: Now, as more devices are becoming connected in the IIoT, solutions demand a common device profile model to provide the framework needed for interoperability. Big data, dark data, and other data analytics driving IIoT solutions thrive on common device object models. This session focuses on how the LONMARK profile model supports these IIoT initiatives.

LONMARK 2.0: New Advancements in Open Systems Control Networking: LONMARK International's next generation of technologies and standards provide a roadmap for the LONMARK community to extend ISO 14908.  New technologies include increased support for IP-based transports while maintaining integration compatibility with existing 14908 devices.  In addition, LONMARK brings its profile model to the IIoT for transport agnostic mapping of profiles enabling cross-protocol support for BACnet, ZigBee, KNX, OpenADR, Modbus and other industry protocols.

Energy Management for Small Box Retail (SBR): There is a growing opportunity for applying BAS design principles to the unique requirements of small box retail applications. Building on the principles of control automation, open systems, and interoperability, retail environments require local monitoring and control in an easy-to-use KISS environment. This can pose some design challenges. This session will discuss the opportunity and advancements in the industry and share some key best practices.
