Kepware fulfills application and connectivity needs at CRG Logics, Inc. with the award winning, OPC Certified KEPServerEX communications
Kepware, a world leader in communication software for automation, maximizes the promise of OPC with a single OPC server interface for multiple protocols at CRG Logics, Inc., an OEM supplying auxiliary blending and material handling equipment for the plastics industry. KEPServerEX provides consistent access from your client applications via Certified OPC or native interfaces, a common and self-evident user interface for all drivers. As a standards-based OPC server technology, CRG customers operate reliable equipment that is simple, yet accurate and affordable, regardless of whether it is a new system or retrofit.
While searching for a server, the CRG engineers identified application and connectivity requirements. Quality assurance and verification of blend percents topped application needs as customers need to log data into the system and using trending tools provide useful information. Connectivity needs vary from the Allen Bradley ControlLogix or CompactLogix PLCs typically utilized for new feeder and blender systems produced by CRG Logics, Inc. to non-Allen Bradley controllers usually required in retrofit applications. Often times a PLC-based blending system needs to be integrated with custom OEM applications (developed in C++ for example) which are performing line control.
As an OEM plastics industry supplier of auxiliary blending and material handling equipment, with close to 200 SIMPLICITY blending systems to offer as well as providing PLC-based control retrofits of blenders produced by other manufacturers, CRG focuses on quality, reliability, and flexibility. "Many Kepware OEMs and direct customers install KEPServerEX as our official testing and promise of ongoing support ensures that they will have the ability to design the most reliable automation systems possible now and into the future" comments Tony Paine, Executive VP/CTO of Kepware.
[an error occurred while processing this directive] After reviewing their options, CRG engineers chose KEPServerEX with a single server and driver-plug in design. This maintained a consistent access to PLC data regardless of the type of PLC in the feeder/blender system. A wide range of available "plug-in" device drivers and components enables quick communication setup of control systems.
KEPServerEX would also serve data to off-the-shelf OPC client products like those produced by Canary Labs, as well as custom applications developed in a range of programming languages. Products by Canary Labs allowed CRG to incorporate the interoperability benefits of OPC by providing trending and data logging technology. CRG Logics, Inc. bundled the Kepware Technologies and Canary Labs packages together to provide a user-friendly but robust trending and data logging package for their customers. This manufacturer of machinery and controls for the plastics industry continuously strives to improve performance of their products and the software needed to allow for integration with other systems, and provide reliable access for future expansion.
