Outsourcing FM&O Lets Companies Focus on Core
Business
Dallas – July 22, 2009 – TAC by Schneider Electric, the building management and
energy services business of Schneider Electric, offers complete facility
maintenance and operations (FM&O) support that allows companies to concentrate
on their core business functions. TAC provides its FM&O customers with a
maintenance specialist on-site or on-call, creates a detailed inspection and
maintenance schedule for each facility, and develops and deploys comprehensive
energy management strategies. TAC also offers contract flexibility based on
client needs.
“A variety of companies rely on TAC’s FM&O group to outsource the maintenance of
their property, so we work in facilities of all types, such as manufacturing,
commercial office, government, healthcare, aerospace, pharmaceutical and
financial Institutions,” said Lonnie Laue, vice president, TAC Strategic
Accounts. “We can do as much or as little as the customer wants. For example,
TAC can manage just a few aspects, such as equipment parts or heating
ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) repairs. Or, TAC can take care over
everything, from janitorial services to lawn/grounds maintenance.”
TAC’s flexible program allows TAC to assume management of existing vendors who
are already providing services (such as the lawn maintenance company) or TAC
will bring in subcontractors to perform the tasks needed. In most cases, TAC
places dedicated staff on-site at the client's facility so they can proactively
manage everything in real-time. If the customer chooses, however, the FM&O
specialists can merely be on call.

TAC’s program also supports sustained performance through operation and
maintenance procedures and extended services. These can reduce the incidence and
costs of equipment failures and crises and ensure peak performance over time.
TAC’s experienced facility managers can adjust operations as the facility
evolves and can assist owners in planning and budgeting for energy and capital
expenses. TAC can even devise programs for energy savings and equipment upgrades
that provide tangible results with fast payback, often with a return on
investment that can be realized between two and five years.
“Our parent company, Schneider Electric, is the world leader in management of
electricity and automation,” notes Laue. “Together, our complete building
solutions allow our FM&O managers to provide a single approach for controlling
all of a facility's systems, from power to building controls and security.”
Facility maintenance and operations functions that TAC typically handles for its
customers include HVAC maintenance, control system maintenance, electrical
service, general maintenance, computerized maintenance system management,
project management, subcontract management, security system maintenance, energy
conservation, and budgeting and expense management.
