Morgan Hill, CA, July 12, 2011: The OpenADR Alliance, a nonprofit corporation created to foster the development, adoption and compliance of a Smart Grid standard known as Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) announced today that it selected QualityLogic Inc. to develop a conformance and interoperability test tools and Intertek Group PLC to provide testing and certification services for OpenADR compliant products. The selection follows competitive process through a recent Request for Proposals (RFP) process seeking companies to bid on the supply of test tools and testing and certification services.

QualityLogic was selected to develop a test tool allowing the company to become the independent test tool vendor for OpenADR 2.0 compliant products. Headquartered in Moorpark, California, QualityLogic was founded in 1986 to help the fledgling desktop printer industry achieve interoperability goals by providing rigorous test solutions for page description languages. During the past 25 years, QualityLogic has developed numerous test solutions for the consumer electronics and telecom industries and in 2009 was named the testing partner for the largest smart grid demonstration project in the US. QualityLogic is also an active participant in the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel Testing and Certification Committee and the OpenSG Conformity Work Group.

Intertek was selected as the exclusive testing and certification partner, providing conformance and interoperability testing and certification for OpenADR 2.0 compliant products. Intertek is a leading provider of quality and safety solutions serving a wide range of industries around the world. The company supports end-to-end Smart Grid testing, certification and consulting services for safety, compliance, and interoperability. Intertek's Smart Grid solutions cover power generation (fossil, nuclear and renewables), transmission and distribution, systems operations (ISO/RTO), field area networks, home area networks, smart meters, electric vehicles, consumer appliances, commercial building technologies and more.

"We are honored that the OpenADR Alliance selected QualityLogic as their certification test tool development partner," said Dave Jollota, QualityLogic president and ceo. "We look forward to working with the Alliance and Intertek to develop a world-class compliance program for OpenADR."

"We are very pleased that the OpenADR Alliance chose Intertek as its compliance partner, and we look forward to applying our expertise to ensure conformance to the OpenADR standard," said Sunny Rai, regional vice president renewables for Intertek, North America. "Together, the Alliance and Intertek can further build industry confidence in the standard; fostering the growth of automated demand response to meet the needs of service providers, regulators and other key Smart Grid participants."

"This is an important milestone for the Alliance as we move closer toward our plan of testing and certifying OpenADR 2.0 compliant products by the end of this year" said Rolf Bienert, technical director of the OpenADR Alliance. "Both companies bring a wealth of experience that will be vital as our members start the product development process based on the OpenADR standard emerging from the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) later this summer."
