Free EMA/APPA Webinar Offers Technical & Practical Exploration of Building Issues in the post-COVID-19 Future

(Washington, DC, July 2, 2020)—The Energy Management Association (EMA), announced that it’s teaming with education facilities engineering association APPA to conduct a webinar that offers a deep technical and practical exploration of occupied space issues and needs in the coming post-COVID-19 future. The webinar features the chairman of the ASHRAE Epidemic Task Force Reopening Team, the author of a study on commercial real estate managers’ expectations and challenges, and practicing building energy engineers already working on COVID issues in the field.

Presenters for the webinar are Wade Conlan, P.E., CxA Hanson Professional Services Inc., member ASHRAE Epidemic Task Force and Chairman of Task Force Reopening Team; Mike Kelly, TBE, CxA, President, American Testing, Executive VP for Associated Air Balance Council (AABC); Eric McEwen, CxA, EMP, TLC Engineering Solutions; and James Moore, COO and Executive Vice President, Brightline Strategies, author “COVID-19 Commercial Impact: Commercial Office Users/Tenant Impact Survey.” In addition to their presentations, the panelists will contribute informative topic-related resources to webinar attendees.

•    Understand the implications of COVID-19 on the future of occupied spaces on matters of codes, regulations, best practices in O&M, etc.
•    Learn how energy services providers are responding to COVID-19 challenges with their existing clientele and are preparing for future service demands with new offerings and immediate needs created by reconfigured spaces.
•    Understand the immediate implications of COVID-19 on basic matters of ventilation, filtration, air flows, workplace distancing, humidification, etc. based on current and emerging science.
•    Using contemporary survey data, understand the concerns, challenges, and current demands facing building owners and facility managers to reopen and operationalize spaces in the “new normal.”

The Energy Management Association (EMA) is a trade association dedicated to providing education, training and certification in the field of building and facility energy efficiency. Its Energy Management Professional Certification (EMP) has achieved accreditation by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and is a recognized certification by the Department of Energy's Better BuildingsŪ Workforce program.
