ST. PAUL, Minn. (June 2010) – Minneapolis-based
Hempel Properties, a developer of retail, hospitality, office, multi-family and
industrial properties, has selected Twin Cities’ EnergyPrint to provide energy
data management services for Hempel’s commercial buildings.
Hempel Properties (www.hempelproperties.com) owns and manages more than 1.2
million square feet of retail, industrial and office space.
Founded in September 2009, Minneapolis-based EnergyPrint (www.EnergyPrint.com)
anticipates this year to become one of the top benchmarking services in the
United States. EnergyPrint provides energy benchmarking for hundreds of
commercial buildings managed by such companies as Wellington Management,
Kraus-Anderson Realty and NorthMarq.

“Our goal is to reduce expenses and keep our portfolio profitable,” said Joshua
Krsnak, Hempel Properties executive vice president. “We focus on a strategy that
reduces our energy consumption and carbon emission across all of our properties.
EnergyPrint provides us with an easy-to-use tool for benchmarking energy
consumption and for identifying areas where we can make changes to save energy.”
EnergyPrint believes the opportunity for corporations to save money on energy
consumption and to control costs for the future is huge. Its energy management
software measures energy consumption in buildings in order to prepare managers
to make informed decisions and to change current and future consumption trends.
It offers new energy benchmarking data analysis that empowers companies to
manage energy consumption, reduce costs and lower their carbon footprint.
According to the 2006 Annual Energy Review, there are nearly five million
commercial buildings which accrue energy costs of approximately $35,500 per
building. About half of all commercial buildings are owner-occupied or single
tenant, meaning that the primary tenant occupies the property and directly pays
the utilities for the property. Between 70-80 percent of the energy consumed in
buildings is used by the heating, cooling, ventilating and lighting systems.
Projections by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) expect energy
consumption to increase another 50 percent by 2030.
