The Submetering Integrated Power Center incorporates
Schneider Electric’s PowerLogic E4800 series multi-circuit meter for accurate
multi-tenant building, energy conservation
Palatine, Ill. – June 15, 2010 – Schneider Electric, a global specialist in
energy management, today announced the addition of the Submetering Integrated
Power Center (IPC) to its Square D® by Schneider Electric Integrated Power and
Control Solutions (IPaCS) portfolio. The fully customizable IPaCS Submetering
IPC combines the custom-engineered integrated power center solution with the
advanced metering capabilities of the Square D PowerLogic® E4800 series
multi-circuit energy meter. Ideal for multi-tenant and multi-department
buildings, such as high rise office buildings, hotels, condominiums and
apartments, shopping malls and medical facilities, the IPaCS Submetering IPC
provides property owners with a factory-assembled, pre-wired power system
equipped with a metering solution that allows building managers to accurately
track and bill energy usage for individual tenants.
Mounted inside the IPaCS Submetering IPC enclosure, the compact PowerLogic E4800
enables revenue-accurate submetering of individual tenants with advanced
communications technology, while saving valuable floor and wall space. The data
output from the E4800 series multi-circuit breaker provides facility managers
and tenants with valuable information about their energy usage, allowing them to
better manage their total energy consumption, reduce operational costs and
increase energy efficiency. Real-time and status information from the E4800
meter can be accessed with Schneider Electric’s EnergyView Online solution and
other online power monitoring solutions.
Designed and manufactured to comply with National Electric Code (NEC) and UL
requirements, the components of Schneider Electric’s IPaCS Submetering IPC are
assembled and tested in a factory controlled environment, ensuring the highest
quality standards are met. During the factory installation the panels, meters
and current transformers (CT) are mounted, and wiring between the internal
components is completed, reducing on-site installation time, labor costs and
associated labor risk.

“The new Square D IPaCS Submetering IPC from Schneider Electric provides
multi-tenant property owners with a comprehensive power center solution that is
equipped with the advanced, highly accurate PowerLogic multi-circuit energy
meter,” said Craig Jones, product manager of Square D IPaCS for Schneider
Electric. “With the addition of the PowerLogic E8400 meter in the IPaCS
Submetering IPC solution, building owners can provide accurate utility costs to
tenants, helping make each more accountable for their own energy usage. Recent
studies show that when tenants are held responsible for their energy
consumption, they are more likely to reduce usage, which leads to energy
conservation and greater efficiency.”
