RALEIGH, NC – June 9, 2014 – Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management today announced it has developed a free HVAC/R Calculator App to help facility managers, building owners, and service contractors reduce energy consumption in their facilities while using their existing air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. The app is the first of its kind, and comes integrated with Schneider Electric’s Condenser Fan Pak, a packaged plug-and-play retrofit solution for air-cooled chillers that can help reduce the energy consumption by up to 30 percent.

“Schneider Electric’s HVAC/R Calculator App was designed to meet customer requirements for simplicity of use, accuracy in calculations and a deliverable report that is easy to understand,” said Ian Hitchins, Vice President-HVAC/R solutions, Industry Business, Schneider Electric. “We are pleased to be able to offer this unique application to our customers.”

The application accurately quantifies how much energy can be saved when Floating High (Head) Pressure control with VSD technology is applied to air-cooled chillers. By simply entering the geographic location of the chiller, costs per KWH, equipment run-time and chiller tonnage, the calculator generates a tablet view and produces a PDF report showing estimated annual energy savings potential. The report can then be saved and shared via the email tab.

Applying Condenser Fan Pak to air-cooled chillers:

•    Brings the existing air-cooled chiller up to today’s energy efficiency standards for a fraction of the cost of replacement
•    Extends the useful life of the air-cooled chiller
•        Use the HVAC/R Energy Savings App to quickly determine if applying Floating High Pressure Control with VSD condenser fan operation is an effective Energy Conservation Measure (ECM)
•        Provides an easy way to download - on web, iOS and Android devices
•        Provides Real-time, shareable information

The HVAC/R Calculator App can be downloaded free on the web, iTunes and Google Play. Additionally, customers can purchase the Condenser Fan Pak direct, through Schneider Electric’s Buildings Partner network of Mechanical Contractors, and selected Schneider Electric Mechanical Solutions Providers.
