45,000 HVACR Professionals Set Attendance Record at AHR Expo
Westport, Connecticut -February 15, 2000- More than 45,000 HVACR professionals, including more than 25,000 attendees, registered for the AHR Expo 2000 in Dallas February 7-9, making it the best attended AHR Expo ever held outside of Chicago or the northeast.
The final tally of 25,300 attendees represents a significant increase (40%) over the last southwest show that was held in New Orleans in 1994. The New Orleans Show attracted 18,095 visitors and featured 15,688 exhibitor personnel.
The 2000 Show, which had 1044 exhibitors and 314,932 square feet of exhibit space, also ranks as the 5th largest AHR Expo ever, just behind Chicago '99, Chicago '95, Atlanta '96 and Philadelphia '97.
[an error occurred while processing this directive]According to Clay Stevens, President of International Exposition Company, much of this growth can be attributed to the strong economy and the fact that Texas is among the most profitable HVAC&R markets in the United States. The value of new construction in Texas has grown at least 5% annually for the last 25 years. In addition, neighboring Oklahoma has seen commercial construction skyrocket an incredible 57% during the last 10 years.
"What makes the new Southwest record even more special is that it occurred during our 70th anniversary," Stevens said. "The first AHR Expo took place in Philadelphia in 1930. Since then it has grown to become the industry's leading HVACR event by attracting thousands of attendees and exhibitors from over 110 countries to the annual show."
Building Automation Seminar
A very popular feature at the Show was the unveiling of the Building
Automation Seminar, "State-of-the-Art Capabilities in Building
Automation." This new session, which explored the latest advances in
intelligent building systems, attracted more than 400 attendees throughout the
course of the show.
The sold out show attracted attendees from all facets of the industry, including contractors, engineers, dealers, distributors, wholesalers, OEM's, architects and builders, industrial plant operators, facility managers, agents, and representatives.
The Exposition, which is co-sponsored by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI), is held in conjunction with ASHRAE's Winter Meeting. Their concurrent conference program featured in-depth sessions on HVAC&R systems and applications, deregulation of the power industry, indoor air quality, ventilation, energy efficiency of buildings, and new developments in ASHRAE standards.
The AHR EXPO 2001 will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, January 29-31, 2001.
