Tridium's Niagara Framework™ Adopted by Honeywell for Building Automation and Control
MINNEAPOLIS, MN and RICHMOND, VA, February 29, 2000 - Honeywell, the industry leader in building controls, and Tridium, Inc., a leading provider of Internet-based control and automation infrastructure, announced that they have entered into a multi-year alliance. The alliance will enable Honeywell to utilize Tridium's breakthrough technology solutions for their building automation customers and Tridium will market Honeywell's industry-leading controllers and components to its systems integrators. In the agreement, Honeywell establishes Tridium's Niagara Framework™ as an Open System Infrastructure for building automation and controls. The agreement gives Honeywell access to Java™-object programming and network management tools for BACnet™ and LonWorks® products, Java-based controllers, Web Server platforms, and building control applications.
"This is an exciting event for us," said Dennis Tuft, Senior Marketing Manager, System Integration Solutions at Honeywell. "This relationship will allow us to offer the latest technology solutions and continue our leadership in the arena of open systems, while providing Internet access through standard web browsers. This allows our customers the best of both worlds- access to new, open systems and the power of the Internet, while protecting their investments in legacy control systems."
As part of the agreement, Honeywell will work with Tridium to provide a future integration of Honeywell's successful Excel 5000 controller family into the Niagara Framework™, creating a seamless infrastructure for both existing control systems and newer installations with BACnet™ and LonWorks®.
"We envision a tremendous market acceptance of the combination of Tridium's Niagara Framework™ technology and Honeywell's industry-leading LonMark® product family," said Jerry Frank, president of Tridium, Inc. "This strategic agreement takes open and interoperable systems connected through the Internet to the next level. It will significantly reduce the cost of open systems while dramatically increasing the productivity of managing buildings."

Coactive Networks and Innovex Technologies Deliver Internet Access to Home Security, Lighting and Climate Control
Coactive Connector(R) Residential Gateway Links Innovex Controls to the Internet
DISTRIBUTECH 2000, MIAMI BEACH, FL. -- February 29, 2000 -- Coactive Networks, a leading provider of commercial and residential gateways, today announced a complete solution for Internet access to home controls, developed in partnership with Innovex Technologies. The combination of Innovex's intelligent home security, climate control, and lighting devices and the Coactive Connector(R) residential gateway brings consumers a new world of telemetry e-services based on Internet access to common household devices.
Telemetry e-services allow service providers such as electric utilities and telecommunications companies to gain new revenues, increase customer loyalty, and enter new markets by delivering multiple bundled services at a reduced cost using a single gateway to the Internet. Coactive is demonstrating real-world applications made possible by this technology at the annual DistribuTECH Conference and Exhibition this week in Miami Beach, Florida (Booth 550).
Coactive's residential gateways are unique in enabling home e-services that go beyond PC Internet access. The Coactive Connector provides a continuous Internet connection to multiple devices - everything from lighting to security systems to dishwashers - using existing wiring. That means consumers have access to everything in their homes from anywhere they are. By delivering a single affordable gateway, Coactive connects all of the electronic devices in our lives to the evolving world of Internet appliances. So consumers can use a web browser from work to pre-heat the cabin, or use a mobile phone to secure the house and turn on the lights. As an added bonus for utility service providers, the same gateway delivers automatic meter reading capabilities.
