Savings Tool, Coupled With Temperature Sensor, Provides Building Owners, Property Managers and Contractors Actionable Energy-Saving Data

MINNEAPOLIS, March 10, 2009 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced two new energy-saving offerings for buildings: the C7760 Selectable Dry Bulb Temperature Sensor and an online energy-savings estimator for economizer applications.

Economizer Savings Estimator
The Honeywell economizer savings tool helps contractors who want to show customers how making improvements to their buildings can save energy.

The estimator uses weather data to calculate estimated savings for buildings around the globe. A report containing estimated energy savings and payback period is generated based on the information entered into the tool.

“Building owners and property managers need actionable data to make critical decisions that will help cut energy costs and improve the bottom line,” said JoAnna Sohovich, vice president and general manager of Honeywell commercial control systems. “The economizer tool can help identify energy-saving opportunities for a wide range of building types and ventilation solutions. For instance, contractors can use customers’ utility rates to test a variety of control strategies to determine the best opportunities for savings.”

The estimator incorporates the latest American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) energy and building standards and inputs for building types, global locations, current utility rates and local currency. It also includes a HVAC carbon footprint calculator that measures the impact of a building’s heating and cooling activities on the environment.

The new C7660 dry-bulb temperature sensor is designed for use with economizers in climates with low humidity. With a changeover deadband of just two degrees Fahrenheit, the microprocessor-based sensor marks a major improvement in economizer control. The C7660 sensor enables economizers to activate or deactivate at a tighter temperature band for even greater energy savings.

“Now more than ever, building owners, managers and contractors are looking for additional ways to cut energy costs”, said Sohovich. “Replacing old dry bulb temperature sensors is an easy way to reduce energy consumption.”

Other key benefits of the new sensor include:
• Changeover temperature dip switch to easily change temperature settings in real-time.
• Eight selectable temperatures for easy set-up.
• Compatible with all Honeywell economizer logic modules.
