MeshNetics will present world’s first 900 MHz ZigBee PRO platform
MeshNetics will make a groundbreaking announcement that will redefine ZigBee as we know it. ZigBee already leads the Internet of Things revolution, providing standards based wireless sensing solutions for the energy management, building automation, smart metering and more. But while ZigBee is designed to employ both 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz frequency bands, the majority of ZigBee solutions in the market today are 2.4 GHz. A number of wireless technologies, like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth already use the license-free 2.4 GHz band which makes it increasingly crowded. The Sub-1 GHz band (915 MHz in US and 868 MHz in Europe) is not only less crowded, it offers some significant advantages over 2.4 GHz. The 900 MHz frequency has a higher operating range, better interference resistance and superior wall penetration capability. The latter is crucial in building automation applications. MeshNetics ZigBit 900 module is the first platform that combines the superior performance of 900 MHz with the robustness of ZigBee PRO embedded software. The tiny module achieves the record-breaking line-of-sight range of 6,000 meters (over 3.7 miles), while maintaining low power consumption. We will be making an official announcement of ZigBit 900 on June 9th. The shipments of the engineering samples will begin immediately.
