Sontay
has been named as winner of the hotly contested Technical Innovation of
the Year – Products Award at this year’s Building Controls Industry
Association (BCIA) Awards 2011. Sontay’s SonNet wireless range of
temperature and humidity sensors won the prestigious accolade at the
Awards, which were held at the St John’s Hotel, Solihull on the 12th
May 2011.
Sontay’s Managing Director, Trevor
Palmer, says: “We are delighted to have won this award as we were up
against stiff competition. SonNet leads the way, offering improved HVAC
energy efficiency and lower fuel consumption in existing buildings. As
well as offering more cost-effective control systems in new buildings.
It is a reliable and low cost alternative to wired temperature and
humidity sensors, broadening the market potential for integrators.”
The SonNet family of wireless
sensing devices provide accurate measurement of temperature and
relative humidity within a building and communicate these readings
reliably to its control system. With self-healing tree topology, SonNet
eliminates concerns over reception and reliability that are often
associated with existing point-to-point wireless systems. Judges were
impressed by this system’s self-diagnosis capability, and the fact that
it is an easily retrofitted solution in existing buildings.
[an error occurred while processing this directive]SonNet consists of battery powered
sensor nodes together with permanently powered network receivers and
routers, and software. It is designed around a robust 2.4 GHz, 802.15.4
self-healing tree topology which eliminates the need for structural
cabling during sensor installation for an HVAC control system. This
enables faster and easier installation on new buildings, where project
timescales for controls installation can often be extremely pressurised
as well as cost savings of over 25% on total installed cost.
Sontay products and control
solutions are designed to help improve building management system
performance reduce energy and maintenance costs and increase occupant
comfort levels. For further information on the Sontay product
