Sontay’s revolutionary SonNet wireless sensors are enabling accurate temperature control whilst cutting the time and cost of installation on projects for Suffolk–based cleanroom specialist, HiTech Controlled Environments.

SonNet sensors feature throughout the 13,200m³ warehouse of a major pharmaceutical manufacturer, Accord Healthcare, providing precise temperature measurement for the building’s control system – an essential requirement in this type of project. The warehouse is used for product storage and also includes two Grade B aseptic cleanroom suites, both 300m² in size, constructed by HiTech Controlled Environments.

By eliminating the need for structured cabling during sensor installation, SonNet wireless sensors helped to reduce the engineering time and installed project cost. Designed around a robust 2.4 GHz, 802.15.4 self-healing tree topology network, the SonNet approach also delivers a reliable and robust measurement solution for the project.

The project also includes Sontay’s Invertek Inverters which provide effective fuel savings and enhance efficiency in a variety of process operations at the facility. HiTech Cleanrooms has also specified these Sontay Invertek Inverters at Astron Research where they have built another Grade B aseptic cleanroom measuring 54m².

“We selected Sontay for both projects because the products were ideal for the applications” said Colin Perllman, Director at HiTech Controlled Environments Ltd. “SonNet is a great time and cost-saver during installation, and provides a reliable and accurate temperature measurement option.”

Sontay not only offers great products but also fantastic service which is really helpful when we are planning a project.”

For each building, heating and cooling is provided using a mixture of gas fired heating, electric heating and chilled water for cooling. The inverters allow the volume of air moved through the air conditioning system to match the demand. The new ID-CT (standard inverters) and ID-VT (variable speed) drives from Sontay feature an innovative, compact design which combines robustness, reliability and easy to use performance. Within pump applications, these new drives can help ensure an evenly distributed workload for maximum productivity. They also feature an energy saving sleep mode at low or zero flow conditions, an automatic dry shutdown facility and the capability to lower flow and maintain supply in the event of a burst pipe or leak.

Complying with the latest EU Directive for Mandatory Minimum Efficiency levels and the latest International Efficiency Standard IE2, ID inverters feature on the Government Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme’s (ECA) Energy Technology list which delivers tax rebates upon the installation of energy-saving equipment.

Sontay products and control solutions are designed to help improve building management system performance reduce energy and maintenance costs and increase occupant comfort levels. For further information on the Sontay product range, contact sales@sontay.com
