Building owners, designers, contractors and facility management organizations are all trying to build new buildings or renovate existing buildings tagged as "smart" buildings. Ethereal attributes describing smart buildings don't help in designing a smart building in a way that the industry can have a common understanding of the concept. This course covers the major attributes of a smart building as well as the prerequisites for SBI certification.

Building Systems Introduction

This class expands on 101 and takes a looks at the wide variety of systems that have separate functions yet may be integrated with other systems to communicate and share data, together creating the greater BAS and BMS infrastructure. Key concepts and market trends regarding building automation, building management, and enterprise management systems will be discussed. A multi-tier architecture model will define the interaction and integration responsibilities of smart buildings.
