November 16, 2007 - Amsterdam, the Netherlands - LONMARK International, a non-profit trade association, which creates, supports, promotes, and certifies the standards for open, interoperable LON-based products and systems, is pleased to announce the recent addition of Peter Kelly-Detwiler, senior director of energy technology services for Constellation Energy, to its Board of Directors.

"These are very exciting times for LONMARK International as we are working on increasing global awareness of intelligent, green building processes and the central role that open standards play in redefining our thinking about energy management and conservation," said Ron Bernstein, Executive Director of LONMARK International. "I am certain that we will take full advantage of the wealth of experience that Peter will bring to LONMARK and am pleased he has accepted the position."

Open, interoperable systems are an integral part of addressing today's global energy concerns including introducing efficiencies into existing and new buildings. Among the benefits presented by open systems is the opportunity to participate in demand response, an economic and environmental program gaining momentum world wide, which allows for the monitored, direct management and curtailment of energy use. Working closely with Constellation Energy and other industry leaders, LONMARK is helping develop and advance new strategies in demand response that will benefit the entire energy market.

"Constellation Energy values its strong relationship with the LON-community and looks forward to working more closely with LONMARK and other members of the board to bring about open standards that will help drive sustainable energy practices," said Kelly-Detwiler. "We are confident that working together to promote good, open standards throughout the industry will set the stage for a more comprehensive load response opportunity."

A part of Constellation Energy since 1997, Kelly-Detwiler has been active in the competitive energy markets since their inception. Before joining Constellation Energy, he served the International Institute for Energy Conservation in Chile as Program Manager, developing energy efficiency programs for the U.S. EPA's Green Lights Initiative. His experience has led him to contribute energy related articles in Boston Business Journal and Mass High Tech. He is also a frequent contributor to LONMARK Magazine.
