Crestron Helps Architects, Engineers, and Lighting Designers Deliver a Truly Energy Efficient Building
Rockleigh, NJ, November 12, 2012 – Crestron is showcasing its
Integrated by Design™ energy management solutions at Greenbuild®
International Conference and Expo 2012. From hardware to software,
engineering, and design expertise, Crestron will present everything
needed to integrate commercial lighting control with HVAC, AV, IT, BMS,
shading, and security, to deliver a truly integrated, energy efficient
building. Crestron will also discuss the services and tools available
to architects, engineers, lighting designers, and specifiers to support
their projects.
“Despite all the ‘green’ and ‘sustainable’ catch-phrases being tossed
around, there’s only one dependable way to achieve measurable,
worthwhile reductions in energy usage and utility costs: integrate all
building systems on a single, intelligent platform,” said Mike Malone,
Crestron VP of Lighting Controls. “And the best way to implement is at
the beginning of the design phase. Crestron provides design assist
support to engineers and specifiers to help streamline the planning and
simplify execution.”
Design assist brings experience, proven designs and a structured
approach to bringing together the control system requirements across
electrical, lighting, mechanical, AV and IT members of the design team.
“This is the only way to ensure a complete approach to design and
implementation,” added Malone.
As a leader in home and building technology solutions, Crestron
provides the framework for an integrated, sustainable facility. For new
construction, optimal building efficiency can be achieved when
integration takes place at the beginning of the project, with the right
connected systems in place to monitor, manage and control energy usage
throughout the building. For retrofit projects, wireless automation is
ideal to start making simple changes that lead to better efficiency,
without making significant capital investments.
“We’re bringing lighting, temperature, and technology together so you
can get accurate data and manage energy usage across the entire
building,” said Malone. “Facility managers can now benchmark energy use
so they can actually measure, compare, and reduce consumption. No other
company even comes close to what we're delivering.”
Crestron will showcase several energy management products and solutions at Greenbuild including:
Crestron Shading Solutions provide precise, quiet one-touch management
of daylight with a complete line of motorized window shades and drapery
track systems. Only Crestron Shading Solutions bring together designer
shading with electric lighting, AV, climate and security control for a
complete, integrated solution that maximizes efficiency, convenience
and comfort at all times.
Crestron Green Light® DALI® Solutions provide incredible flexibility in
building and lighting design, both in new construction and in
retrofits. Part of our DALI solutions includes Crestron DALI ballasts.
Unique to Crestron DALI ballasts is the optional power monitoring
feature. “The ability to measure, monitor, and manage power to each
light fixture, while enabling daylight harvesting and load shedding,
makes it easy to combine architectural lighting control and energy
management on one platform,” Malone says.
The Green Light Power Meter logs overall electricity usage in real time
and stores historical data. Facilities managers and building owners can
now accurately measure and monitor all electricity coming into the
building. Actual power usage data is then transferred to a Crestron
control system over Ethernet where it can be displayed on a touch
screen, laptop, or Apple® and Android™ mobile devices for easy viewing
via Crestron Fusion EM™ software. Armed with this substantial data,
rather than estimates, managers can make intelligent and informed
energy savings decisions across the building and campus.

3-Series™ control systems provide a scalable, IP-based platform for
implementing fully integrated building management and automation.
Built-in BACnet/IP support enables seamless integration with HVAC and
existing building management systems. All systems can now run
independently and communicate with each other on the same high-powered
Crestron platform, creating a truly smart building. Using Crestron
3-Series control systems, integrated control of lighting, shades, HVAC,
AV, BMS, security, IT, and other connected systems now becomes faster,
simpler and significantly more efficient.
“With our native BACnet over IP capability the fully integrated
building is easily, economically, and quickly delivered so we can meet
any projects ROI goals,” added Malone.
Fusion EM Energy Management Software helps measure, monitor, manage,
and control lighting, HVAC systems, and energy usage in every room of
every building, all from one convenient interface. Automate daily
functions and schedule events such as temperature, shades and lighting
level set points, demand response settings, global lighting and climate
control for unoccupied spaces, and more. Integrate with building
management systems and monitor historical and real-time energy usage
from a centralized dashboard.
The Crestron Mobile Pro® app for Apple and Android smart devices
enables residential and commercial customers to control entertainment
systems, lighting, shades, multi-room audio/video, heating/cooling, and
security systems, from anywhere, anytime. Crestron will showcase a
refreshed mobile GUI and hands-on demonstration, using simulated home,
boardroom and classroom environments to demonstrate the possibilities.
