Since its official introduction earlier this year, the MVE solution has been purchased or installed by nearly 20 organizations, including Pharmacia, Eli Lilly, Aventis and Astra Zeneca. The MVE solution offers custom control and record keeping technologies that help firms operate their facilities in compliance with applicable government regulations, including U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Title 21, CFR Part 11.
"It is gratifying that our MVE product has been so readily accepted by the life sciences industry," said John Creighton, director of the life sciences global market at Johnson Controls. "This is another example of how listening to our customers helps us deliver smart solutions."
MVE is an enhancement of the company's flagship Metasys building automation system, and is designed to help companies achieve and maintain regulatory compliance, especially in regard to secure documentation of electronic records and signatures. The MVE package is a comprehensive technology solution that includes a data center component, combined with a Web-based reporting and analysis suite, as well as a Johnson Controls M5 workstation.

It aligns with regulatory codes by addressing both the technological and procedural components required for compliance," according to Johnson Controls sales manager Agostino Renna.
The MVE system can be readily configured to meet the documentation requirements of individual users, company policies and regulatory codes. Johnson Controls incorporates a flexible security model that offers password-based authentication with unique electronic signatures - ideal for use in regulated applications.
Other MVE security features include a secure, audited database function that is designed as the repository for all alarms, operator transactions and trend records. The Facility ExplorerÔ Data Center creating this secure database provides assurance that records cannot be deleted or altered.
