BOSTON – October 13, 2010 – EnOcean, a pioneer in
self-powered wireless sensor technology for the building automation market,
today announced it has been named in the prestigious 2010 Global Cleantech
100—produced by the Cleantech Group, providers of leading global market
research, events and advisory services for the cleantech industry. The list is
produced as part of the Global Cleantech 100 program run in collaboration with
the Guardian News and Media and sponsored by Autodesk.
“EnOcean has become a global leader in green, energy harvesting wireless
solutions; and being named a Global Cleantech 100 Company for two years in a row
is indeed an honor,” said Jim O’Callaghan, president of EnOcean, Inc.
“Commercial buildings are energy gluttons that leave hideous carbon footprints.
They need to be brought under control, not in ten years, not in five years, but
now. EnOcean’s battery-less, wireless sensors have already been adopted by more
than 100 manufacturers and deployed in over 100,000 buildings worldwide.”
The Global Cleantech 100 highlights the most promising private clean technology
companies worldwide citing companies that are the most likely to make the most
significant market impact over the next 5-10 years in the eyes of the world’s
cleantech experts. A total of 4,616 nominations were received from 3,260 unique
sources from 50 countries, which was ultimately winnowed down to the Global 100.
The complete list of 100 companies will be unveiled today at Cleantech Forum New
York.

“The second Global Cleantech 100 shines a spotlight on which companies and which
technology areas the global innovation community is currently most excited
about, from a commercial standpoint,” said Richard Youngman, MD, Europe & VP,
Global Research at Cleantech Group.”There have been significant changes since
2009: more Asian companies and less renewable energy generation companies attest
to the growing diversification of cleantech innovation. Cleantech is a broader
phenomenon than just clean energy. The wider issues of resource scarcity are
starting to gain attention and traction.”
About EnOcean
No Batteries. No Wires. EnOcean (www.enocean.com), the inventor of energy
harvesting wireless sensor networks, manufactures radio and energy harvesting
modules that enable OEMs to develop wireless sensors & switches for new and
retrofit BAS (Building Automation Systems). The batteryless radio modules
convert ambient solar, thermal and motion energy into useable electrical energy
that powers communications between controls. These ‘peel-n-stick’ devices reduce
the time, cost and occupant disruption of energy conservation retrofits; and
provide unparalleled flexibility in new construction. The company is a spin-off
of Siemens AG and U.S. operations are based in Boston.
