Partnership to bolster innovation throughout the building automation and energy management sector
[Brossard, QC, October 7, 2015] – Distech Controls, an innovation
leader in energy management solutions, today announced that the company
is partnering with one of Canada’s top tech hubs, Notman House.
Operated by the OSMO Foundation, this historic, downtown Montreal
building, provides tech startups with flexible office space that
promotes networking, community building, and shared learning.
The relationship will be two-fold, with Distech Controls providing
ECLYPSE™, its award-winning, IP-based building automation solution, to
Notman House, and the two organizations jointly holding innovation
contests focused on green building technology.
Through this strategic alliance, Notman House will truly become an
Internet of Things building with the implementation of Distech
Controls’ ECLYPSE™ Connected IP and Wi-Fi Product Series, and ENVYSION
responsive, web-based design and visualization interface. Through this
powerful connectivity, Notman House residents will be provided with
leading edge environmental control, and advanced monitoring and
analysis capabilities, further launching this historic building into
the future.
The partners will also focus on a number of innovation-focused contests
(hackathons) to provide the tech community with the opportunity to
tackle specific challenges faced by the building automation and energy
management industry. The first joint hackathon presented by Distech
Controls, “Total ECLYPSE of the House”, is set to take place early 2016
at Notman House.
“Since its inception in 1995, Distech Controls has successfully
maintained its focus on furthering innovation in the building
automation and energy management sector,” said Etienne Veilleux,
President and CEO, Distech Controls. “Partnering with organizations
such as Notman House is a solid demonstration of this commitment, and
allows us to take creativity and technology to new heights”.
“Notman House is a true representation of Montreal’s world-class
innovative spirit,” said Jean-Lou Paquet, Chief Financial Officer,
Distech Controls. “We are thrilled to be partnering with them so as to
provide its network of inspiring technology entrepreneurs with a
cutting-edge environment. We are confident that, through Distech
Controls’ contribution to the vibrant ecosystem that Notman House has
built, our partnership will successfully bolster innovation throughout
the building automation and energy management sector,” added Paquet.
"We're thrilled to be working with Distech Controls to make the Notman
House a true home of the web,” said Noah Redler, Campus Director,
Notman House. “Through Distech Controls’ solution, we'll be able to
literally 'ECLYPSE the house' to create web platforms and apps that
will help us better manage Notman, and be a driving force that will
establish Montreal as a world leader in building automation solutions.
Another great example of a Quebec-based business leader building
stronger ties with our startup and tech communities," added Redler.
Etienne Veilleux will be presenting at Notman House on October 14th as
part of the “Founder’s Talk” series, an initiative launched by startup
accelerator FounderFuel. Veilleux will be speaking to the program’s
participants about his own entrepreneurial path from a small
Quebec-based startup to an international leader in building automation
and energy management.
