LONDON – September 26, 2018 – Vodafone has been recognised as an innovator embracing the future of real estate at the recent EG Tech Awards in London.  Working with Current by GE (NYSE:GE), Vodafone deployed a new multi-sensor network in part of its London headquarters that received top honors in the Property Productivity category.

Innovative visualisation software transforms raw data into actionable information designed to help Vodafone’s London office workers to speed up common tasks in the pilot area, like finding available conference rooms, break-out space, VC pods and desks. The project was recognized for its unique ability to aggregate data from both environmental and occupancy sensors, to improve the building’s energy efficiency while also helping to maximise space utilisation and boost employee productivity. The Smart Space team at BuroHappold, experts in human behaviour analytics, people movement and real time data visualisation, worked with Vodafone and Current to achieve these outcomes.

The EG Tech Awards were created to celebrate digital transformations at the forefront of real estate technology that address a defined market problem. Twelve award winners were honored for their impact on real estate in the U.K. and beyond.

Vodafone is now evaluating opportunities to add additional digital capabilities to its flagship London location, including Current’s Daintree wireless controls. Current’s open platform supports collaboration with app developers, including partners like BuroHappold, iOffice, and 720 o, who can help Vodafone perform additional tasks like:

Measuring CO2 and humidity, and adjusting HVAC accordingly to improve comfort, well-being and productivity
Monitoring noise levels, so an employee can find appropriate areas to work
Identifying facilities operations and maintenance management needs

Vodafone has spent the last few years establishing itself as a thought leader in the science behind office productivity; in 2017, it commissioned The Power of Productivity report with the London School of Economics. Drawing on interviews with 20,000 business leaders across 35 countries, the report found business productivity could be improved by up to 20 percent through a combination of technology adoption and management best practices.
