University of Notre Dame Selects Simplex* for Major Fire Alarm System Upgrade

Project Will Enhance Student Safety in 16 Campus Dormitories

contemporary WESTMINSTER, Massachusetts - Simplex, a leading global provider of building systems, has been chosen as the supplier for a major upgrade project that will bring the latest fire detection and alarm technology to 16 residence halls at the University of Notre Dame.

The retrofit project, being administered and managed by the Simplex Branch Office in South Bend, involves the installation of Simplex 4010 TrueAlarm* fire alarm panels and TrueAlarm smoke sensors. The 4010 control panels will replace competitive products now in place in the dormitories and be tied into the networked 15-node fire alarm system that Simplex installed a few years ago to protect parts of the 104-building, 1,250-acre Notre Dame campus.

The solution Simplex is delivering at Notre Dame is a turnkey integrated fire detection and alarm system that maximizes existing fire alarm resources, information and personnel. Using advanced Simplex TrueAlarm smoke sensors, the 4120 system provides early-warning fire detection and enables the Notre Dame Fire Department to monitor the status of the system's addressable devices.

Simplex will serve as the prime contractor on the upgrade project, overseeing the installation of the new panels. The project will be completed in three phases. The first seven of the 16 dormitory installations are now being installed.
