Remote Technologies Inc. integrates Ember’s ZigBee technology into whole house control systems

BOSTON and DENVER, September 3, 2008 – Remote Technologies Inc. (RTI), a leading control systems manufacturer, is teaming with Ember, a leader in ZigBee technology, to entrench ZigBee as the premier wireless standard for home control systems.

RTI has integrated Ember’s ZigBee chips and software into its award-winning universal remotes, transceivers and control processors. Now home owners have the most advanced technology to control home theater, whole house audio, lighting, HVAC, security and other home automation devices. The control solutions include a variety of handheld and in-wall controllers, transceiver modules and system processors that can be integrated into virtually any home energy, home entertainment and security application. By incorporating Ember’s ZigBee chips into several of the award winning RTI handheld controllers, these devices will be able to communicate with ZigBee enabled central processors from RTI, on the ZigBee platform for robust and reliable RF transmission.

The RTI products are featured at the CEDIA Expo 2008 in Denver in Booth #128. They included

Together, these ZigBee-enabled products can provide integrated control of a variety of devices throughout the home, from audio/video components to environmental controls, with future support to provide full two way communication and feedback such as volume level or the current temperature to the remote control.

“The professional installation of custom electronics requires high expectations of quality, reliability and security,” said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing for RTI. “Adding Ember’s ZigBee communication capabilities to our product line will provide our dealers and in turn their customers the best standards based wireless control technology on the market.”

The RTI control devices incorporate Ember’s EM250 ZigBee system-on-chip (SoC) and EmberZNet PRO networking software, the industry’s only true SoC platform supporting the ZigBee PRO Feature Set. Ember’s chips and software are a ZigBee “Golden Unit” platform enabling manufacturers like RTI to easily embed low-power wireless communications into their home automation products, delivering dramatic improvements in the quality of life as well as residential energy efficiency improvements for consumers.
