New Operating System Provides Modern,
HTML5-Powered Interface, Tagging and Templating Features, and
Out-of-the-Box Security
Richmond, Va., Sept. 8, 2015 – Tridium today introduced Niagara 4, the
next generation of its iconic Niagara Framework — the operating system
of the Internet of Things (IoT). Niagara 4 includes dozens of new
features and enhancements to help Niagara developers, integrators and
users increase operational and energy efficiency, reduce costs and
maintain security.
Key benefits of Niagara 4 include:
· Optimized operational and energy efficiency, thanks to deeper
insights and faster problem-solving enabled by improved visualization
tools. These include dashboards and charting, which leverage
industry-standard HTML5 and other open web technologies;
· Faster build and install with standardized data models through
templating, improving cost-to-serve, saving time and reducing errors;
and
· Enhanced security features, including role-based access control and
code signing, making Niagara 4 secure-by-default and improving the
usability of security features.
Niagara 4 has been in early release since 2014. In early 2015, Tridium
launched the Niagara 4 Beta program attracting approximately 300
applicants around the world. The large applicant pool allowed the
company to test Niagara in a wide array of sites and live production
environments.
“Niagara 4 is a great foundation for the Niagara Community to build upon,” said John Sublett, chief technology officer for Tridium. “It represents a major leap forward in Niagara technology while also embracing the strengths of Niagara AX, which has served this community so well. Niagara 4 is an end-to-end IoT framework that allows connected device applications to be built quickly and more securely. It’s also the conduit to critical information that enables better decision making and business outcomes for service providers and system owners.”
