Lighting
and Shading Control Leader Supports Continued Exploration and
Development of IoT Standards for Residential and Commercial Products
DAVIS, California – September 17,
2019 – The Zigbee Alliance, an organization of hundreds of companies
creating, maintaining, and delivering open, global standards for the
Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that Lutron Electronics – a
prominent global leader in lighting controls and automated shading
solutions – has joined its Board of Directors. Lutron’s participation
at the board level demonstrates its commitment to working alongside
other highly regarded IoT leaders to together bring practical,
intuitive wireless experiences to users in residential and commercial
settings.
Igniting Smart Designs and Collaboration
What began as a two-product company,
Lutron has grown into an internationally successful smart lighting and
shading control provider that offers more than 15,000 products for
residential and commercial spaces. From single-light dimmers to robust
lighting and shading control solutions and high-performance lighting
fixtures, the company sells products in more than 100 countries – and
in the U.S. alone, Lutron products save an estimated 100 billion kWh of
electricity, or approximately $1 billion in utility costs per year.
Paramount
to Lutron’s investment in and dedication to this industry-driven
standards group is the commonality between the Zigbee Alliance vision
and values and Lutron’s founding principles of benefiting its customers
and improving the way the world lives, works, and plays. “We look
forward to working with the Zigbee Alliance board to help shape the
future of the IoT and deliver even more value to our customers,”
Hakkarainen said.
