BACnet Manufacturers Association BACnet LAN connection on the show floor - Booth #6033

New Venue -- This year we are in Atlanta, at the Georgia World Congress Center

[an error occurred while processing this directive]New End-to-End networking -- The way that show floor LANs can be done is new for this new venue. The BCS Internet service company can provide "dry" Ethernet Cable Runs of about 200 feet and, for longer distances, Ethernet Virtual LAN(s). RF modem and infrared links are still options. In keeping with the BMA sponsorship of this event, and for geographical reasons, the BMA booth #6033 will be the central point for BACnet LAN connection on the show floor.

More Vendors -- We have more members of the BACnet Association and more vendors have registered vendor IDs with www.bacnet.org. That means we have run out of network numbers according to the old scheme last year. There are only about 64000 network numbers in the BACnet network numbering scheme. Using VendorID*1000 as setting the starting point for each block only gave us 64 blocks. So we are going to chop a zero off of the network numbers to give us more room (and fewer networks per participant). For example Cimetrics will take network numbers 1400-1499. Device IDs (because there is more range available) will be done the same way as last year. For example Cimetrics will take device IDs in the 14000-14999 range. More details are available in the actual guidelines on this site.

New Homestead -- Homestead has changes its naming rules a bit. www.homestead.com/cimetrics no longer works. Instead the preferred usage is www.cimetrics.homestead.com  or www.homestead.com/cimetrics/

New Class B Network -- Last year, when we tried to setup a Class B network, we were blocked by Cimetrics' mistake in choosing a group of 192.168.x.y addresses. We had to switch to the 172.16.x.y group. This year we are going to use 172.16.x.y group to start out with. More details are available in the actual guidelines on this site.

New Central Backbone BACnet Networks -- This year for the central Ethernet BACnet BACbone we will be using Network Number 9999 (0x270f hex) and for the central B/IP BACnet backbone we will be using Network Number 8888 (0x2268 hex). More details are available in the actual guidelines on this site.

New Theme -- The Wide World of BACnet. Each participant will be represented as a part of the BACnet "Sports" League. There will be a show passport to get stamped at each booth as you travel the BACnet World on the AHR2001 show floor. Contact the BMA marketing committee for AHR2001 for more details.
