Save Time and Cost on the Bus with Sontay's New LONWORKS® Cable System

HVAC controls specialist, Sontay, has introduced its BL BusLink cabling range for LONWORKS® building control systems. This new series offers an innovative pre-designed approach to system wiring, saving engineers up to 25% of the cabling costs for a typical LONWORKS® network and also providing major improvements in installation speed and flexibility.

Sontay's BusLink cable management system enables integrators to eliminate virtually all on-site cabling terminations during network installation. This can significantly reduce the high cabling time and expense typically associated with LONWORKS® projects, particularly in flood wiring applications. With the BL series, the interbus cabling is instead pre-fabricated in standard 8m lengths of BL Combi-cable and supplied complete with appropriate multi-way male or female connectors for fast and simple slot-in connection. Special marshalling BusBoxes in the range enable network devices to be simply plugged in to the system. Sontay also offers BL Series LPT, FTT and 24Vac power supply cable and enclosure modules to complete the system. A BusPoint module designed to accept LONPOINTTM I/O modules provides a direct relay switching solution, if desired.

It's Take Off for Sontay Sensors at Istanbul Airport

HVAC control sensing equipment from the industry specialist, Sontay, is helping to ensure maximum comfort for passengers and employees using the huge, new International Terminal at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport in Turkey.

Developed for a total project cost of over $300 million, the impressive International Terminal building covers a total area of 500,000m2 and is capable of handling 14 million passengers each year. Incorporating many advanced design elements in its build and construction, the Terminal, which opened earlier this year, features a state-of-the-art HVAC system linked into an Alerton BACnet control network. Turkish-based controls company, BTS, specified Sontay air temperature, relative humidity and air quality sensors to act as the eyes and ears of the control system because of their reputation for high reliability, accuracy and long life performance.

The Sontay devices installed on the project incorporate a mixture of immersion, duct and space mounted sensors from the company's extensive range of HVAC equipment. Each sensor communicates with its respective Alerton Visual Logic controller on the system and has the capacity to handle a wide range of separate parameters, such as, temperature, humidity, set-point adjustment and override. Armed with accurate information from the Sontay sensors, the control system can ensure that environmental conditions within the building are maintained at the required levels whilst main plant air handlers, boilers and chillers and terminal unit fan coils operate at optimum efficiency.
