Optimum Energy Honored at Aventine LEEDŽ Platinum Certification Ceremony
Optimum Energy HVAC optimization software contributed to more than 25 percent of points needed to achieve LEED Platinum
SEATTLE — January 25, 2011 — Optimum
Energy, LLC, provider of heating, ventilating and air conditioning
(HVAC) software solutions that set a new standard in energy efficiency,
today announced that the Aventine, a Class A office property located in
La Jolla, Calif., is recognizing Optimum Energy for the instrumental
role its optimization solutions played in helping the Aventine achieve
LEEDŽ Platinum. Implementation of Optimum Energy’s HVAC software
solutions resulted in permanent energy reductions at the Aventine that
contributed to more than 25 percent of the points needed to achieve
LEED Platinum.
“By earning a top EPA ENERGY STARŽ
score of 100, the Aventine has become one of only three 20-plus year
old multi-tenant office buildings in the United States to earn LEED
Platinum,” said Carlos Santamaria, LEED AP, Vice President, Engineering
Services, Glenborough, LLC, owner and manager of the Aventine. “We
could not have succeeded without significant energy efficiency
improvements in our major building systems, including HVAC. With
optimization solutions from Optimum Energy, we were able to meet our
tight deadlines, reduce capital expenditures by keeping two existing
chillers, and increase the efficiency of our HVAC system enough to
raise our ENERGY STAR score by 15 points. Just as impressive is the
fact that with Optimum Energy’s continuous optimization and performance
measurement services, our system operates just as efficiently today as
it did two years ago.”
Optimum Energy’s automated
system-level optimization software applications and web-based reporting
and management tools were implemented in the Aventine in 2008. Since
that time, the Aventine has saved more than 1.5 Million kWh of
electricity, reducing operating expenses by $250,000, and decreasing
carbon emissions by more than 1.8 Million lbs. The Aventine also
received a utility rebate of $105,000, bringing the total project
payback to less than three years.
“Not only is OptimumHVAC™ saving us
money every month, it played a significant role in our achievement of
LEED Platinum,” said Santamaria.
The Aventine LEED Platinum
certification ceremony will take place Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 from 3:00
p.m. – 4:30 p.m. PST at 8910 University Center Lane, La Jolla, CA
92122.
