The S4 Group, Inc. Announces S4 Open: BACnet-N2 Router Product Major Release

Ogden, Utah – February 28, 2013 - The S4 Group, Inc.’s corporate staff hosted a press conference where Steve Jones, S4’s founder and managing partner announced the next major release of the S4 Open:BACnet-N2 router. It is currently available through the S4 Distributors in the field or directly through the S4 Group, Inc.  During the release press conference, Steve described the updated product, “This release will continue to extend the useful life of legacy building automation systems and expand their capabilities through support of open BACnet interfaces.”

The enhancements to the S4 Open: BACnet to N2 Router that are included are:

• Publishing of System 91 data objects as the appropriate BACnet object types. These were all previously published as AVs or BVs.
• [an error occurred while processing this directive]Support for BACnet COV. This is a major advantage for several of the BAS manufacturers because it both improves responsiveness and removes a complex process in setting up the HMI system to do polling.
• Full support for BACnet Priority Arrays for internal and physical output points. Including the ability to disable the priority array to support special cases.
• The Supervisory Controller as a BACnet Client feature forces N2 transactions from the NCM, or any Metasys® supervisory controller, to go through the BACnet Priority Array mechanism. • Assignment of appropriate BACnet data objects for N2 Open BD region points. Data in this region is application specific and could be either small integers or Boolean values.

Ending the press conference, Steve stated, “The S4 Group has moved the S4 Open: BACnet-N2 Router to a higher level of sophistication, making the use of gateway technology even more compelling as a transition strategy or long term BAS solution.”
