March 8, 2016 - HomePlug® (www.homeplug.org), the worldwide standard
for powerline communications networking, today announced that worldwide
shipments of HomePlug units grew to more than 25 million in 2015. Over
60 products now utilize HomePlug’s next-generation, high-speed
technology, HomePlug AV2, and the fastest growing segment of products
are those that combine HomePlug with Wi-Fi technology.
“Millions of consumers worldwide enjoy the robust dependability HomePlug powerline technology provides as well as the convenience of Wi-Fi in hybrid products,” said HomePlug Alliance President Rob Ranck. “HomePlug Wi-Fi extenders solve the problem of dead spots by bringing Internet connectivity to every location in the home, no matter how far, and now at faster speeds than ever with HomePlug AV2.”
"D-Link customers want a fast, reliable wireless connection for all their devices. Even in multi-floor homes with concrete walls, our hybrid powerline products provide a Wi-Fi network in every room. Using HomePlug powerline technology across a home's existing electrical wiring and combining it with Wi-Fi extender technology, our customers can stream 4K video between rooms anywhere in the home without having to fish cables through the walls," said Ping Chen, D-Link Chief Technology Officer.
"Our devolo dLAN 1200+ product is our newest HomePlug powerline adapter utilizing HomePlug AV2 MIMO and Wi-Fi 11ac MIMO," said Heiko Harbers, CEO devolo AG. "By combining the fastest versions available of both powerline and Wi-Fi technologies, we are confident that we can meet the needs of our customers who are fighting wireless dead spots and areas of low connectivity in their homes.
“LEA's newest HomePlug AV2 hybrid solutions with Wi-Fi allow Service Providers to extend Wi-Fi coverage throughout their subscribers' homes as well as provide great wired connectivity. The solutions are truly 'Plug-and-Play,' and result in reduced hotline calls and increased customer satisfaction," said Yves Dubois, LEA Networks CEO.
"NETGEAR's range of HomePlug powerline offerings excel at addressing the connectivity challenges of today’s market. The new PowerLINE 1000 + WiFi, for example, leverages HomePlug AV2 technology and is a perfect solution for providing wireless as well as wired connectivity to home entertainment systems," said Oleg Fishel, Senior Product Manager for powerline products at NETGEAR.
“Today, people are using more and more devices across their homes, often for gaming and streaming. TP-LINK uses the HomePlug standard in its powerline extenders to help create stronger Wi-Fi,” said Lewis Wu, Executive Vice President, North America at TP-LINK USA. “Customers can plug in our extenders and know they’re instantly compatible with other HomePlug Certified devices.”
"ZyXEL has an ideal solution for helping people use their home's powerlines to create a whole-home wireless network. The ZyXEL PLA4231 600 Mbps Powerline Wireless N Extender provides not only a stable wired network with HomePlug AV2 to stream high-definition videos, music and other multimedia, but also extends the wireless network to every room in the house," said Chin-Ru Lin, VP of ZyXEL Smart Living Business Unit.
