Displays Moving Objects in the Dark!
PatrolBot™, an enterprise security and safety robot, will appear in Europe for the first time at the Palais des Nations in Geneva as part of the UN Economic Commission for Europe’s roll-out of their annual World Robotics 2004 report. PatrolBot, from MobileRobots.com, speeds its robotic pan-tilt-zoom camera and 2-way audio to an intrusion site the instant facility security systems detect a possible break-in. When it arrives, moving objects detected by its laser-rangefinder will appear in a building floor plan, also created by the robot. This enables Command Center staff to search for lurkers, even in the dark.
PatrolBots serve as mobile remote “eyes” and “ears” for security staff in the Command Center. If doors and elevators are controllable from the building WiFi network, wireless, PatrolBots can access nearly anywhere in the building automatically. This makes them particularly effective in reducing the cost of false alarm verification, which burdens both private security and public police forces, costing a city like Los Angeles, California over 10-million EU per year.
PatrolBot employs revolutionary ARCS controls shared by AGV’s and other smart robotic devices. Using sophisticated sensing and software, ARCS robots map buildings on-the-fly and navigate point-to-point without wires or other retrofitting. ARCS enterprise robots can share maps, making them highly scaleable. ARCS robots sense obstacles and find alternate routes if a path is blocked.
PatrolBots have been used in companies including Pfizer Global Research, Hewlett-Packard and Limited Brands. Integrator and OEM inquiries are welcome at MobileRobots.com
