Portland, ME, November 17, 2008 – Kepware Technologies, the leader in Communications for Automation, announces that its partnership with Online Development (OLDI) is resulting in the demonstration of a new product, the cATM Kepware Universal Gateway, on display in the OLDI booth #618.

The cATM Kepware Universal Gateway is available as a plug-in module to a ControlLogix PAC, and as a DIN Rail mounted module for standalone operation. In the PAC configuration, the module offers a Logix Backplane Communications Interface and is fully auto-configuring for available Logix Tags. In either configuration, the Module delivers over 130 protocols for connectivity to 1000s of devices on the plant floor. The module also delivers U-CON, a User Configurable Driver, enabling connectivity to a wide range of Ethernet or Serial Devices such as Analyzers, Bar Code Readers, Weigh Scales, RFID Systems, Serial Printers, Label Machines, etc. Target applications include Machine to Machine (M2M) communications to improve equipment interoperability and overall plant floor performance.

“This is a very exciting development,” stated Roy Kok, VP of Marketing and Sales of Kepware Technologies. “Kepware has been known as a provider of communications for Microsoft Windows Workstation and Server operating systems and Windows CE based HMI products. This initiative shows that our technology can bring great value to embedded configurations, opening the doors for pervasive connectivity at the M2M level. Automation solutions will become “Smarter” through real-time communications and connectivity to systems previously beyond the reach of PLCs and other automation controllers.”

“It has been exceptionally easy to work with Kepware, and integrate their products with our cATM Appliance,” explains Ron Monday, President of Online Development Inc. “This is an assembly of existing and proven technologies. We are expecting our first release to immediately find its way into automation systems world-wide. We plan to have this module available before the end of 2008.”
